Vents Armands Krauklis

Born in 1964 in Valka, spent his childhood in Trikāta (also started school there) and Gaujiena.

Education:

Elementary school education acquired in Valka 1st secondary School;

Secondary special education - Alfrēds Kalnins Cēsis Music School;

Higher education - 4 courses in Journalism specialty, Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management in LU Economics Faculty;

Various business and management courses in Sweden, Germany, Italy and Latvia.

Work:

Postman, worker in grain dryer, eletaipist, stoker, teacher in music school, rural chapels manager, journalist, editor, chief editor, LTV broadcast’s “Superviktorīna” producer and manager, director  and owner of several companies, Chairman of Valka Municipality Council, 9th Saeima deputy  (originally Economic Commission Deputy Chairman member, the last two years the head of the commission), Baltic Assembly Economic and Budget Commission Chairman.

Social activities:

The founder of organization Popular Front of Latvia (PFL) in Valka district and the chairman of PFL Valka department, PFL newsletter “Ziemeļlatvija” founder and CEO, member of PFL Council, Valka City Council Member. The Head of People’s Party (PP) in Valka department, repeatedly PP board member. Active participant in various public organizations (Red Cross Board member, union’s “Support for Valka” Chairman of the Board, football club’s “Valka” Chairman of the Board and others). The initiator of building and the organizer of the fundraising for Jānis Cimze and Indriķis Zīle monuments. Initiator and supporter for many different kinds of sports, cultural, social and educational projects.

The initiator and organizer of establishing a cooperation between Vidzeme region and the Alsace region of France, which ended up with both the cooperation agreement, and a French side paid liaison, whose place of employment is in Vidzeme, there are also cooperation projects on many different levels and contents.

Several hundred publications in newspapers “Ziemeļlatvija”, “Diena”, “Lauku Avīze”, “Mūsu Zeme”, “Dienas Bizness” and more, magazines “Tēvijas Sargs”, “Pastnieku Iela”, “Liesma” and more.

Hobbies:

25 years of playing and singing in the town chapel “Bumerangs” (“Boomerang”) (scriptwriter of all "Boomerang" concerts, writes songs and song lyrics, has performed more than 1,500 times, not only in Latvia, but also in the US, Canada, Germany, Britain, Russia, Estonia, Bashkiria) sung in several choirs and mixed vocal ensemble, played clarinet in many brass bands, 20 years in National Guard.

Interests: history, geography, literature.

Awards: Latvian best young journalist (year 1988), Award of Cicerons, various National Guard and Border Guard Honorary decorations and medals, Medal for participation in Barricades, Medal of the Baltic Assembly, Appreciation writes and gratitudes on various levels and more.

Owner of different sorts of medals in floorball, badminton, cycling and arm-wrestling.
