On the 6th and 7th August plenty of exciting events will take place in Valka and Valga, as well as activities for various age and interest groups. It will be worth to travel and enjoy these two days!
6th August
- At 18:00, for the third year the Melodious music festival “Train Rīga – Valka” will be held in Valka open air stage. You will be able to enjoy various genres of music – pop, rock, schlager and country music – everyone will find something for their own taste.
- The most precious moment of the festival – band’s “Bumerangs” (“Boomerang”) 30 Year Anniversary Celebration. It also will be the only chance this year to hear them play music and delight their fans with their talent.
- Also bands such as Rock’n’Berries”, “Melns uz Balta” (“Black on White”), “Kokteilis” (“Cocktail”), “Mākoņstūmēji”, Big Al & “The Jokers”, “Kreicburgas ziķeri”, “Retro” and others will perform.
Pre-sale tickets are available at Valka Culture House; ticket price is 5 euros. On the day of the event ticket prices will be 7 euros. Free entrance for children under 7 years of age.

A Cemetery day will take place.
- In Valka “Meža” cemetery at 13:00
A Cemetery day will take place.
- In Valka “Cimze” cemetery at 15:00
A Cemetery day will take place.
- At Vijciems elementary school’s sport field at 10:00
Vijciems parish sport games will take place. The competition will take place in both individual and team disciplines. Free inflatable attractions for children.
- In Valka gymnasium sport hall
The 7th International badminton tournament for pairs will took place. Prize fund will be 840 EUR.
- In Valka Local History Museum
Exhibition “Household items from Soviet times”. Entrance fee: 0,75 EUR, for pensioners, students and pupils 0,30 EUR. Working time: Tues. – Fri. 11:00 – 18:00, Sat., Sun. 10:00 – 16:00.
- The VIII International Festival of Military History will be held in Valga:
- From 8:00 – 15:00 International Antique and craft fair with a cultural program.
- From 10:00 – 10:30 Opening of the festival (Pikk Street 16A).
- At 11:00 International Baltic dog competition, which is organized by the Latvian Sports Federation of dogs (Valga town park).
- From 11:00 – 15:00 War equipment exhibition (Valga town park).
- From 11:00 – 16:00 Folk costumes ventilation and craft day (Valga museum yard, Vabaduse Street 8).
- At 16:00 Soldier and military equipment march through the town (Jaama Street – Vabaduse Street – Kesk Street – Rimi parking).
- From 17:00 – 18:00 Demonstration of Force structure’s equipment (Rimi parking – Riia street 18).
- At 19:00 Battle demonstrations “Estonia 1944” (near Transpordi Street).
- At 21:00 Concert “Stars in the military sky” and fireworks. Entrance fee: 10 EUR for adults, 8 EUR for students and pensioners, free entrance for pre-school children. (Territory of Pikk Street 16a).
7th August
- In Valka Lugaži Evangelical Lutheran church at 11:00
Concert of Northern Latvian chamber “Livonia”. The program will contain music from the depths of centuries till Raimonds Pauls.
- In Valka Municipality, Ērģeme parish at 11:00
Valka Municipality beach volleyball tour.
- In Valka gymnasium sport hall
7th International badminton tournament for pairs, competition’s second day.
- The second day of Military festival in Valga:
- From 11:00-12:00 The 1944 Walk defensive battle’s presentation in Soor strategic heights.
- From 11:00-13:00 Museum's thematic park visit with the presentation of Estonian military history and the force structure, as well as soldier activities (Pikk Street 16A training class).
