The most delicious spring adventure will be held in 9th and 10th of May – the 13th Great charity border-market. As in previous year, the trading will be in Latvia’s and Estonia’s borders both sides.
In 9th of May a tradition which started only last year will begin – competition for meat producers or the 2nd International meat and sausage festival. Every hobby-culinarian, outworker and businessman, who is producing meat products, is welcomed to participate. The quality of sausage, meat products and smoked meat will be judged by an international jury.
In 10th of May the first meat grilling contest will begin, where individual participants or teams will be able to showcase their skills in meat marinating and grilling. Participants will have the opportunity to marinate their meat on site, as well as to impress the jury and border-market visitors with home marinated meat. The contestants will be judged, the best – rewarded.

As traditionally the idea and goal of border-market is charity, and the funds, collected in the market from the place leases and the lottery, are planned for a specific purpose.
Last year the organizers of border-market agreed to invest the incoming funds to set up a swing on the border of Valka – Valga. Everyone would have the chance to be in both countries in one moment while swinging. This year, the purpose will remain unchanged – the funds collected in the market will go towards the unique swing, which will be set up when the Valka – Valga center rebuilding project will be implemented (The information about the project will be available in the Development and planning departments tent during border-market).
Charity lottery, trader’s buffoon, cultural program, street ball, entertainment for children, “Umurkumurs”, evening party and other activities will be available for border-market visitors and participants!
Craftsmen, outworkers, industrial product merchants and others are invited to apply for membership at border-market 2015. Traditionally a charity lottery is held during the border-market, where the prize pool consists of donated things from companies, institutions and individuals. You can submit prizes for the lottery by calling or writing the lottery organizers - Tourist Information Office (Telephone: 64725522, 26446602, tib[uz]valka[punkts]lv), Valka Rotari Club (26120361) and Valka youth council (26676933), or simply delivering them to Riga street 22, Valka.
